Top Questions and Answers from the Webinar:

When do students get told what classes they need to take? How do they choose their classes?
Our Group Advising Sessions will introduce students to their degree requirements and guide them through the process of using their degree audit, along with the suggested course plan for their major, so they can determine what courses they will need to take as they plan for their first quarter classes. Please view your course plans as a place to begin!

What is a time ticket for registering? When will my student receive a time ticket and how do I find it?
A registration time ticket is the time and date when your student can begin to register for classes for a given quarter. Students can find their time ticket by logging into MyDU. Log in and search registration > Student Registration > Prepare for Registration > Select their next term (e.g. Autumn Quarter 2025) in the drop down > Continue > Their registration time ticket will be displayed. Time tickets are in Mountain Time. (Please view: Prepare for Registration Video for a screen recording)

What holds will prevent my student from registering for classes?
The three most common holds for new students is missing billing agreement, missing health and immunization records, and missing housing assignment. For missing billing agreements, watch the second video in the video library and email studentbilling@du.edu with questions. For immunizations, upload in their MyHealth portal or email info@hcc.du.edu with records and questions. You can also review the webinar recap post from our Health and Counseling Webinar. For Missing Housing, students need to submit a housing application or contact housing@du.edu to request an exemption from the 2-year live on requirement

Can my student still attend advising if they have a registration hold?
Yes! Have your student sign up for a group advising session and plan their 3-5 course plans while working to resolve their registration hold. Registration holds cannot be removed the day records are uploaded, please provide 3-5 business days for paperwork to be processed and holds to be removed from a student's account.

How can my student see all the options for the required First-Year Seminar (FSEM)?
All first-year students are required to take an FSEM, this designates them a faculty member and a 4D Peer Mentor who will support them throughout their first week all the way through the end of their first year. FSEMs are 15-18 students per class and student have over 70 topics to choose from. You can learn more at this website or see the attached FSEM course descriptions below.
