As part of DU’s unique 4D Experience, the University has adopted a campus-wide framework for well-being. Like most growth and success in life, well-being in an ongoing and active effort; and we welcome your partnership in supporting your student’s well-being!

Incoming students will be provided an overview of well-being topics and resources through their online and in-person orientation program. All students will regularly encounter reminders and support messages through enewsletters, campus signage, and engaging events. Encourage your student to pay attention to, and to take advantage of, these proactive opportunities to build and maximize their well-being!

We also know that we all have times when we could use a little help to be our best; and so we offer a range of support resources, including:

The Health & Counseling Center (HCC; www.du.edu/hcc) is an on-campus facility providing quality physical and mental health care services, as well as prevention, education, and support programs on a range of well-being topics.

  • Medical services is a (general practitioner) primary care practice, including some in-house lab tests and a basic medication dispensary, as well as the ability to refer students for more specialized services.
  • Counseling Services offers individual and couples therapy, and (free) group sessions.
  • The Center for Advocacy, Prevention and Education (CAPE) supports those who have been impacted by interpersonal violence, such as sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. www.du.edu/cape
  • Thrive Health Promotion offers education and supplies on topics such as mental health, stress, alcohol and other drugs, safer sex, better sleep and eating, and more. For 2025-26 they’re also piloting a new personalized wellness coaching program. www.du.edu/thrive
  • We also administer the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) and the Heath & Counseling Fee (HCF).

Students can use the MyHealth online portal (via www.du.edu/hcc) for self-scheduling appointments, reviewing records, or secure messaging their HCC providers (not real time). They can also call 303.871.2205 to speak with staff during business hours.

While the HCC is not an urgent care or emergency service, and is not open all hours, we do have providers on-call 24/7 to consult with students on serious issues, and who can help triage students needing more immediate care: dial 303.871.2205 and follow after-hours prompts.

The HCC has also compiled some commonly asked questions and requested resources for Parents/Families

DU Help is a handy bookmarkable web compilation of resources organized by topic.

And Student Outreach & Support (SOS)part of the Dean Of Students office, can help students navigate challenges by connecting them to campus and community resources.
